CPS removes sister of missing 3-year-old, father released on bond

Three-year-old Richardson, Texas girl Sherin Mathews is still missing after she was reportedly sent outside at 3 a.m. by her father as punishment for not finishing her milk.

Furthermore, Mathews told police that the tree was close to an alley near the yard where coyotes had been spotted, according to ABC 7.

Mathews said he checked on Sherin 15 minutes later, but she was nowhere to be found.

On Saturday, Richardson Police Department posted on its official Facebook page about Sherin saying that she was "last seen by her father outside the family's backyard in the 900 blk. of Sunningdale". That might explain why she was punished at 3 a.m., Perlich said.

Mr. Mathews was arrested for Abandoning or Endangering Child. He was released on Dollars 250,000 bond late Sunday night, Sgt. Kevin Perlich said.

The child, who has a developmental disability, was wearing leggings, a pink long-sleeved shirt and pink flip-flops. She suffered from malnourishment before arriving in the United States and is on a special diet, said Sergeant Kevin Perlich, a spokesman for the Richardson Police Department.

"'She is approximately 36" tall and weighs about 22 pounds.

Police say Wesley and his wife waited until 8 report her missing.

But what happened to Sherin Mathews?

Police are trying to figure out why they waited five hours to report the toddler missing. "That's the question we want answered as well", Perlich told the station.

An Amber Alert for the girl remained active on Monday. They also noted that the back of the home faces train tracks.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 972-744-4800. The Matthews family adopted the girl from an orphanage in India two years ago.
