Serge Gnabry joins Hoffenheim on loan from Bayern Munich

The former Arsenal player moved to Bayern in June - from Werder Bremen - signing a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena, however the 22-year-old is now to spend the first year of his contract on-loan with Hoffenheim, Bayern have confirmed via their official Twitter account.

At the time there was speculation that Hoffenheim, with the allure of UEFA Champions League football, were in prime position for his signature.

"Gnabry will return to Bayern after a year", he added about the player who helped Germany win the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Gnabry showed glimpses of his brilliance at the Rio 2016 Olympics for Germany and began a successful Bundesliga career last season, but Bayern will want to see the 22-year-old take the next step in his evolution at Hoffenheim.

"He's guaranteed to get that at a high level in Hoffenheim".

Gnabry scored 11 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances for Werder last season and will be looking to help Hoffenheim push on from their surprise fourth-placed finish.

With the recent addition of James Rodriguez, first-team action with Bayern will have been hard to come by, and with Hoffenheim securing a qualification spot in the Champions League Gnabry could find himself with more senior action next season.
