American Sam Querrey falls to Marin Cilic in semifinals at Wimbledon

Djokovic was the second injury-affected player to exit the tournament on Wednesday after a limping Andy Murray endured a surprise defeat to Sam Querrey.

Since you've started working with him last fall, in what ways do you think he's developed the most?

Federer has defeated his Czech opponent 18 times in 24 meetings.

Seventh-seeded Cilic reached his first Wimbledon title match at the 11th attempt with a 6-7 (6/8), 6-4, 7-6 (7/3), 7-5 win over America's Sam Querrey.

Querrey took lead after a brief delay late in the opening tiebreaker.

On Thursday, Murray saw a hip specialist to discuss treatment for his nagging hip injury.

Physically battered and emotionally drained, the one-time Queen's Club winner again battled doggedly for four minutes shy of three hours before finally succumbing to Cilic's explosive firepower.

Victory made Federer, who was playing in his 42nd Grand Slam semi-final, the second oldest finalist after Ken Rosewall who finished runner-up in 1974 at the age of 39.

"To be so close to number eight now is an unbelievable feeling", Federer said after reflecting on his 6-1 head-to-head record over Cilic ahead of Sunday's final. The 28-year-old Croat won the 2014 US Open, where he beat Kei Nishikori in the final. I've got to figure out a different way, carve my way through the draw somehow with my slice and my spins, my consistency maybe.

There were signs that spectators were in for another long afternoon with no break points at all in the first set as the serve of the two 6ft 6in (1.97m) giants dominated.

Perhaps his rivals at the top of the game should take note. "Even those two sets in the tiebreak, I was still the one facing more break points".

"Last year definitely kind of gave me a new boost that I could do it", Querrey said. The Swiss Master got the better of the Czech journeyman on two separate occasions this year, the Round of 32 at the Australian Open followed by the quarter-final of the Miami Masters.

This isn't the first time Murray has had to remind a reporter that women's tennis players also exist.

"I'm happy to have a day off tomorrow and time to reflect on what I did this year and so I can get ready for the final", he said.

But he's won three straight five-setters. That may have been Murray's mom.

Berdych, who beat Federer in the quarterfinals in 2010, challenged Federer throughout the match. "He's just proving his greatness in our sport". He has much more positive energy out there, he's showing that he wants to win the matches. He couldn't play his usual court-covering defense. He was controlling the game pretty well.

'It feels unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable, ' Cilic told the BBC. The means are the same, but for a full explainer, hit the link below.
