AMD Threadripper Battles Intel's Core i9 With Cheaper Price, Earlier Release

Second, AMD is prepping a new, 12-core/24-thread chip, dubbed the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X.

Advanced Micro Devices has already revealed the impressive capabilities of their new Ryzen Threadripper processors. We won't have to wait much longer to see if the information check out as Ryzen 3 is slated to arrive on June 27. Obviously theses type of specs come with a hefty price tag. The same AMD chip is $1,000 cheaper than Intel's 18-core, 36 thread Core i9-7980X.

The Ryzen 3 1200 microprocessor will sport a base clock of 3.1GHz and a "boost" clock of 3.4GHz.

Both of the new CPUs are said to beat the aforementioned i9 7900X. Motherboards supporting these high-end CPUs will also become available from OEMs during the month of August.

Ryzen 3 pricing hasn't been unveiled yet, but AMD hasn't been shy about slugging Intel where it hurts of late. The budget-focused Ryzen 3 line will target entry-level users, while the enthusiast-class Ryzen Threadripper is designed for those who want monstrous amounts of processing power in a desktop.

In terms of a direct comparison to AMD's Threadripper flagship, Intel's 16-core offering, the i9-7960X, runs to no less than $1,699 (around £1,315, AU$2,200).

Anderson further says, "With Ryzen Threadripper processors representing the ultimate in desktop performance, the Ryzen 3 CPU will get even more people into the Ryzen family - at an affordable price point".

Let us know what you think about the AMD Threadripper 1920X and the 1950X.

Intel is trying to make Epyc not sound strong at all, yet AMD is using a very technologically superior method of using 4 x Zen CPU cores into a single package. The Ryzen 3 1300X CPU comes with four cores, with base clock of 3.5 GHz and boost to 3.7 GHz, and the Ryzen 3 1200 CPU comes with four cores and with a base clock of 3.1 GHz and boost to 3.4 GHz.

Luckily, a Reddit user has managed to get unconfirmed details regarding the price of these two SKUs, suggesting that they should launch at USA $129 for the Ryzen 3 1300X and United States $109 for the Ryzen 3 1200, excluding Value-Added Tax.
